Northern Drivers Charitable Trust – Scholarship for union members and their families

Click here to access information about the Northern Drivers’ Charitable Trust Scholarship. Scholarships of $3000 are available to members of unions affiliated to the NZ Council of Trade Unions and their families. These funds must be used towards NZQA certified qualifications.

Fees free study

Fees Free tertiary education and training is a policy introduced in 2018 by the Labour Government. It is aimed at those going to university for the first time.

It can cover up to $12,000 for one year’s study or two years’ training, which is paid directly to your tertiary education organisation.

Māori and Pasifika Trades Training (MPTT) Scholarships

The Auckland Māori and Pasifika Trades Training (MPTT) Scholarship programme is an initiative to encourage young Māori and Pasifika people to gain trade qualifications, apprenticeships and employment in Aotearoa New Zealand.

If you are aged between 16-40 years old, you could be eligible.

MPTT covers the following programmes:

  • Automotive technologies
  • Baking and patisserie
  • Carpentry, scaffolding, brick and block laying
  • Culinary
  • Electrical trades
  • Hairdressing
  • Hospitality (barista, café, and restaurant)
  • Mechanical engineering trades
  • Plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying
  • Refrigeration and air conditioning
